A welcome addition to family holiday collections
In Ms. Berger’s sweet picture book, Lucas’ mother has to answer the question—is Santa real? How do you tell your growing child something that has been a family tradition and a closely guarded secret? There’s the possibility of disillusionment and loss of faith. But Ms. Berger finds an inspiring and meaningful way to do it in this story that I hope parents will adopt. The illustrations by the gifted KC Snider are beautiful, nostalgic, and appealing. Highly recommended for ages 7- 10.

A message with heart
This story is very touching as it goes to the heart of a child’s fears and hopes, and makes him become aware that he is growing out of childish ideas and beliefs and must take on a responsibility that he may not feel ready to accept—but unlike Peter Pan, he must grow up. Susan Berger has tackled a subject that is very large and couched it in the familiar and loving framework of Christmas. Kudos to KC Snider for her beautiful illustrations that give the reader the feeling of winter and Christmas.

Captures the essence of the season beautifully
Susan J. Berger speaks about a topic that every child would have asked their parents at least once, and the reply given to Lucas by his mother will touch the hearts of readers. The story will help readers understand the magic of Santa Claus and the essence and spirit of the Christmas season. The illustrations are vivid and delightful and they breathe life into the characters and scenes. It’s a good bedtime story for parents and grandparents to read aloud to their kids and grandkids, especially during the Christmas season.
